About James
James Overton is a Canadian photographic artist in the Toronto area. Receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University in 2011, and has since been represented by organizations like Photosensitive and several independant galleries.
James' work is driven by the nomadic lifestyle of his childhood. Having never set roots and constantly moving, his work now focuses on the photographic study of the province of Ontario. Partly inspired by love of country and a longing for a frontier, his work is the study of a homeland that never bore permanence for him. His work is fed by his sense of discovery and experimentation, and a deep respect for the places and people he finds himself shooting.
